"Seeking Castles and Kingdom" 14" x 14"
-"So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is perishing, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen".
2 Corinthians 4:16
-When I set out to create this piece I was seeking play and freedom. It was a day off and there was no pressure for it to be anything really other than enjoying the process of painting and focusing on the brush strokes themselves. I also knew I wanted to create something that embodied the act of flourishing and growth and beauty. I was visualizing gorgeous greens as I’ve been inspired by the Shire in LOTR. This painting exceeded my expectations and I had such a peaceful time creating her ✨
The first thing I see when I look at this piece are two castles (they began to look like castles somewhere along the way without me knowing it and they emerged beautifully). I think it’s interesting that castles found their way into my work as I think the best way to grow and flourish is to seek first the Kingdom of Heaven.
This piece embodies this verse:“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” -John 6:33
I am also reminded of the scene in The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe when Edmund is looking from afar at the White Witches castle before he goes there.
